Where to Recycle Your Old Holiday Lights

You can find drop-off sites in Stillwater, Woodbury, Oakdale, Hudson and other cities.

Your holiday lights that are on the fritz can now find a good home at a nearby recycling drop-off site. Recycle Your Holidays, a program of the Recycling Association of Minnesota, lists dozens of collection spots around Minnesota and western Wisconsin this holiday season, including in Stillwater, Oakdale, Hudson and Woodbury:

Minnesota

Woodbury: Frattallone's ACE Hardware, Washington County Environmental Center.
Oakdale: Oakdale City Hall
Lake Elmo: Foth
Stillwater: ACE Hardware, River Market Community Co-op

Wisconsin

Hudson: The Purple Tree
New Richmond: Doyle's Ace Hardware, New Richmond Utilities
River Falls: Ace Hardware, City Hall
Baldwin: Gregorson Ace Hardware

You can also recycle lights year-round at Washington County Environmental Center, 4039 Cottage Grove Dr., Woodbury (651-430-6655).

Your organization, workplace or school can also request free pickup through the program, which recycles every part of each light strand. According to Clean Energy Resource Teams, homes that switch to more energy-efficient LED holiday lights can save $10–250 each holiday season.
