Wisconsin Fire Chief's Body Identified: Coroner

ARCADIA, WI β€” Jeff Halvorsen, the Arcadia-Glencoe fire chief who was missing since Aug. 19, was identified Wednesday.

Halvorsen was identified after his body was found in his truck near Hayward, Sawyer County Coroner John Froemel told Patch.

The Sawyer County Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of his death, Froemel said.

The Trempleau County Sheriff's Office found Halvorsen's truck with a body inside in a remote wooded area near Hayward on Sunday.

Halvorsen was a board member of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Association. He joined the Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Department in 1990 and became chief in 2004, the association website said.
