Zach Sobiech's 'Clouds' Wins Upper Midwest Emmy

The Upper Midwest Emmy Awards Gala happened Saturday night at the State Theater in Minneapolis.

Zach Sobiech andΒ β€œClouds” won an Upper Midwest Emmy Award Saturday nightΒ in the Musical Composition/Arrangement category.

The viral video β€œClouds” has been nominated for an Upper Midwest Emmy Award in the Musical Composition/Arrangement category.

TheΒ Upper Midwest Emmy AwardsΒ GalaΒ will take place at 7:30 p.m.Β on Sept. 28 at theΒ State TheaterΒ in Minneapolis.Β 

Β Zach Sobiech died of bone cancer in May. He was a Stillwater Area High School student and musician. Sobiech wrote "Clouds" as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family after he was diagnosed.

His songΒ went viral on YouTubeΒ and has collected nearly 8 million views to date.Β
