• New report shows health care costs overwhelming Wisconsin teacher salaries (news8000.com) — Teachers in La Crosse are paying about 27% of their gross income for health insurance, far more than colleagues in nearby Holmen and Onalaska, according to a new state report. The findings highlight how rising health costs are squeezing educators’ budgets and pushing some out of the profession, prompting lawmakers to study a possible statewide insurance plan to ease the burden.
