49-Foot Fall Killed Indiana Man At Devil's Lake State Park In WI: DNR
Authorities on Thursday said they ruled out foul play in an accidental fall at Devil's Lake State Park that left a 42-year-old dead Tuesday.
BARABOO, WI — Authorities have determined the man who was found dead at Devil's Lake State Park on Tuesday died from an accidental 49-foot fall along the park's west bluff, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The Sauk County Coroner identified the man as 42-year-old Jason Gillum of Fort Wayne, Indiana, according to the DNR. Authorities said foul play is not suspected in the man's death.
It was Tuesday afternoon when two hikers, including Gillum, were separated on the park's west bluff portion, the DNR said. A hiker filed a missing person report before a separate hiking group came upon the fallen man around 5 p.m., the DNR said.
