FBI Offers $25K Reward For Info About Attack On Anti-Abortion Group's Office In Madison

Two Molotov cocktails were thrown into the office, which caught fire, according to the FBI.

MADISON, WI — The FBI is offering an up to $25,000 reward as it continues to investigate an attack last spring on an anti-abortion organization’s Madison office, the agency announced Thursday.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of May 8 at the executive office of Wisconsin Family Action, less than a week after a draft was leaked of the U.S. Supreme Court opinion that in June overturned Roe vs. Wade, authorities said.

Two Molotov cocktails were thrown into the office, which caught fire, according to the FBI. Graffiti on the exterior of the building near a broken window declared, “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either,” according to the agency, which noted additional graffiti included the anarchist “A” symbol and the numbers “1312.”

Shortly after the attack, a group that identified itself as Jane’s Revenge took credit through investigative journalist Robert Evans and an anonymous intermediary. The name is an apparent reference to Jane, a Chicago-based collective that performed thousands of abortions in the pre-Roe vs. Wade era of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

A statement from the group provided to Evans said the attack was “only a warning” and that Jane’s Revenge would “adopt the minimum military requirement for a political struggle” if anti-abortion organizations with a history of violence were not disbanded in 30 days, Evans tweeted in May.
