UnityPoint Meriter Hospital in Madison is on lockdown after staff "became aware of an external threat by an outside caller" on Friday.

MADISON, WI — UnityPoint Meriter Hospital in Madison is on lockdown after staff "became aware of an external threat by an outside caller" on Friday morning, hospital officials said.
The threatening call came in at 11:30 a.m.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we are currently working with authorities and controlling hospital access into our facility," read a statement from UnityPoint Meriter Hospital.

"We are confident that the hospital is safe and our team will continue normal operations of providing patient care within the hospital."
As of Friday afternoon, only confirmed patients are being admitted inside, while security and police patrol the perimeter of the campus.
