Man Found Dead At Devil's Lake State Park; DNR Investigating

BARABOO, WI — A hiker was found dead near the west bluff portion of Wisconsin's Devil's Lake State Park on Tuesday after he became separated from a companion, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

The hiker's partner reported their companion missing when they could not be located, and eventually a second group of hikers came upon the missing man near the park's west bluff and reported a possible fall incident, the DNR said.

Responders from the DNR and Sauk County found the man dead shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said.

The DNR asserted no threat remains to park visitors while the fatal incident remains under investigation.
