MADISON, WI — A pedestrian was killed and an intoxicated driver was charged with homicide in connection with a crash early Tuesday, according to Madison police.

The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. at the intersection of Mineral Point and South High Point roads, in a commercial stretch on Madison's far west side, police said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver, a 42-year-old woman, was arrested on a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, according to police.

Westbound Mineral Point Road was expected to be closed for several hours, while eastbound Mineral Point Road would have a single lane open, impacting traffic flow, police said.
