Top 15 WI Hospitals Ranked By Newsweek In New List

WISCONSIN — The best hospital in Wisconsin is the UW Health University Hospital in Madison, but 14 others are ranked in Newsweek’s first-ever ranking of America’s Best In-State Hospitals.

Every hospital in the country was eligible for the inaugural ranking for 2024, which includes 600 hospitals across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The results are based on four data sources, including surveys by Newsweek’s data partner, Statista, of doctors, hospital administrators, and other healthcare professionals, as well as patients, and Medicare and Medicaid data.

The final scores were weighted on peer recommendations (32.5 percent in-state and 7.5 percent out-of-state), patient experience (17.5 percent), hospital quality metrics (40 percent) and implementation of standardized Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, or PROMs (2.5 percent).

The Wisconsin hospitals named to the list, along with their score and location, are:

3. Mayo Clinic - Health System In Eau Claire (85.16 percent)
4. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center (Milwaukee), 85.02 percent
5. UnityPoint Health - Meriter (Madison), 84.67 percent
6. Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare (La Crosse), 83.34 percent
7. Aurora Baycare Medical Center (Green Bay) 81.55 percent
8. SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison, 81.18 percent
9. Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center (La Crosse), 81.04 percent
10. Bellin Memorial Hospital (Green Bay), 80.16 percent
