Wisconsin 13-Year-Old Remains Missing; Could Be 'Off The Grid': Report

A report by WKOW 27 said investigators believe a 13-year-old Wisconsin boy missing since June may be attempting a "survivalist mission."

SAUK COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Sauk County last week said they are still looking for James Yoblonski, a 13-year-old who went missing around a month ago.

Police said Yoblonski was last seen June 12 at his home in Reedsburg, but he may have traveled to the area near Devil's Lake State Park. Earlier, police said they recovered a vehicle that may have been used by James near U.S. Highway 12.

Police on July 8 said they are looking into "all avenues" with several investigators assigned to the case. Since the time Yoblonski went missing, police said they have conducted several more searches of the area near U.S. Highway 12 and several other possible areas of interest.

A story by ABC 27 WKOW in June said investigators thought Yoblonski may be trying a survivalist mission because he talked about going off the grid and surviving in the wilderness. The boy's father, Bill Yoblonski, told the television station his son is smart and that his going missing is unlike him.

According to a June 13 report by NBC15 WMTV, police said they found a possible campsite near where they found a vehicle and cell phone connected with the missing 13-year-old.

Police at first noted a handgun was missing from the boy's home. According to a July 13 report by USA Today, Yoblonski's father posted to Facebook that his son "is not a danger to anybody else or himself. I just want him home."

The Sauk County Sheriff's Office said anyone with information on the case should contact their office at 608-355-4495, or to contact Sauk County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-847-7285.
