Wisconsin Backs Voter ID Amendment To State Constitution
Wisconsin voters on Tuesday approved a constitutional amendment to enshrine the state's voter ID law.
MADISON, WI — Wisconsin voters on Tuesday approved a constitutional amendment to enshrine the state’s voter ID law, delivering a win for Republicans and conservative activists who have long championed the measure as a safeguard for election integrity.
In a somewhat surprising outcome, the amendment easily passed even as Democratic-backed Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford is projected to decisively defeat Republican-supported Brad Schimel.
The Republican-controlled Wisconsin legislature placed the Voter ID measure on the ballot.
