Wisconsin Is Paying More For Gas Because Of The Badgers
With Wisconsin shut out two weeks in a row and 2-5 overall, a Hy-Vee promo tied to team scoring has become an easy punchline.
MADISON, WI — Wisconsin Badgers fans are finding dark humor in the team’s offensive collapse and their wallets lighter at the gas pump.
A viral post on X thanked head coach Luke Fickell "for yet another week of full priced gasoline," alongside a photo of a Hy-Vee promotion that offers gas discounts based on how many points the Badgers score.
The promotion promises savings such as 28 cents off per gallon if Wisconsin scores 28 points, 35 cents off for 35 points, and 42 cents off for 42 points. But after the Badgers were shut out in consecutive home games, 37-0 against Iowa and 34-0 against Ohio State, fans earned nothing.

With the team’s scoring drought showing little to no signs of ending, fans are bracing for yet another Monday of full-priced fuel.
The good news?
"No matter the score of the game, Hy-Vee actually still offers a 20-cent Fuel Saver for every $20 a customer spends on Mondays following Badger games," a Hy-Vee representative told Patch.
