Kennedy’s wife told police that he had been calling her all night on March 14, but she refused to answer his calls. He had just been released from federal prison the day before, and she didn’t want to have a relationship with him anymore. However, he drove to her Milwaukee home and parked his vehicle outside.

Reluctantly, his wife got into the car with him to talk. While they were driving, she received a call from another man, which enraged Kennedy.  He grabbed her phone, started screaming obscenities at her, and threatened to shoot her in the face and kill her. He was swerving the vehicle all over the road, and Kennedy said he didn’t care if he crashed the vehicle and killed them both.

The woman told Kennedy numerous times to stop the vehicle, but he didn’t listen. Instead, he wanted to take her to a hotel. Once they arrived at a Milwaukee hotel, the woman called police when she arrived. She told police Kennedy has a violent past, and beat her numerous times before he went to prison.
