Falls Teen Faces 25 Years Imprisonment After Alleged Armed Robbery at Petro Mart

A Menomonee Falls teen could spend decades in prison after allegedly holding the owner of the Main Street Petro Mart at knifepoint and stealing cash from the register.

According to the incident report from the Menomonee Falls Police Department:

With the sun shining shortly past noon on Sunday March 6, 17-year-old Ryan Metzger and a 15-year-old accomplice waited for the final car to clear the parking lot of Petro Mart, N89W16812 Appleton Ave. Earlier that day, the two had talked over the phone about their lack of money, and decided to rob the store.

When the final car left and it was time to enter the station, the 15-year-old got nervous and decided not to go in. Metzger called him a name an entered alone, while his accomplice waited at the rear of the store.

Donning a hooded sweatshirt and a grey camouflage mask, Metzger entered Petro Mart and immediately stepped behind the counter and demanded station owner Abdul Haq empty the register. Metzger made the command while pointing a 3-inch folding buck knife at Haq.

It took just 19 seconds to enter the store and make off with $100 in cash according to surveillance video. Both Metzger and the accomplice fled the scene.

Police arrived on the scene after Metzger fled, but after a police investigation both Metzger and his accomplice were apprehended. Officers obtained surveillance footage and identified footprints in the snow matched to the teens' shoes. Officers also found a mask, one glove, a black hat and a sweatshirt in the garbage can of Mill Pond Park.

On March 8, the 15-year-old was transported to the Waukesha County Juvenile Center.

Metzger is currently being held in the Waukesha County Jail on $50,000 bond. He is charged with armed robbery, which is a felony offense that carries a prison sentence of up to 25 years with 15 years of extended supervision and a maximum fine of $100,000 if found guilty.

Metzger pleaded “not guilty” to the armed robbery charge. His next hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. May 9 in room C121, of the Waukesha County Courthouse, 515 W. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.
