Junior Indians Wrestlers Compete on a National Level

In other news, Menomonee Falls High School wrestling coach Jim McMahon joins the Purler wrestling academy.

Two members of the Menomonee Falls Jr. Indians wrestling program competed in the northern Plains National tournament in June.

Matt Anderson competed in the 75 lb. division against wrestlers from all over the Midwest and finished with a record of two wins and two losses in freestyle completion. He narrowly missed placing in the top six. He also finished with a records of 1-2 in Greco-Roman competition.

Austin Lasanske also compete in the Northern Plains event in the 70-pound weight division and finished fifth in Greco-Roman competition n with a record of three wins and two losses and finished with a record of 2-2 in the freestyle competition.

Austin Lasanske also traveled to Farmington Utah to compete in the USA National events. Austin finished with a record of 0-2 in Greco-Roman losing to wrestlers from Oregon and Idaho. Austin finished with a record of 1-2 in freestyle defeating wrestlers from Idaho and losing to wrestlers from Nevada and Utah.

The Purler wrestling academy is the creation of Nick and Tony Purler who were both NCAA wrestling champions for Oklahoma State in the 1990’s.

The Purler wrestling academy is the largest and one of the most prominent wrestling schools in the United States offering year-round training for wrestlers in the St Louis, MO area and nationally. McMahon recently traveled to Oregon to provide a week-long training session for the top high school wrestlers in the Portland, Oregon region.

McMahon is entering his 10th season of coaching at Menomonee Falls High School and his 24th season overall. In 2006, McMahon was named District 7 Coach of the Year by the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association.
