MFHS Class of 2011 Graduates Saturday

A decision on whether to hold the ceremony indoors or outdoors will be made by 6 p.m. Friday.

A four-year journey for 377 students at has come to a close, as the final day of school was Thursday. On Saturday, those students will participate in the annual rite of passage that celebrates not only the end of a journey, but the beginning of a new one.

The MFHS commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Schumann Stadium. Gates to the stadium will open at 3 p.m. Students need to report to their assigned classrooms by 3 p.m.

If the weather is uncooperative, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium. Each student was given four tickets on June 9 for friends and family, if the event is held inside. Lost tickets cannot be replaced, and additional tickets cannot be requested.

According to the National Weather Service, it is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 63 degrees on Saturday. A decision will be made on where to hold the ceremony by 6 p.m. Friday.

Students selected to speak during ceremony are Caleb Brose, who will also be the emcee, as well as Alyssa Barczak, Ashley Highlander, Kyle Kiepert, P.J. Weyer and Dominic Thomas.

The faculty speaker this year will be Marie Bodenbach, a math teacher whose daughter Kate is graduating with the class.
