Police Beat: A 77-Year-Old Shoplifter And Another Caught Red-Handed

Incidents from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

At 10:45 a.m. Saturday, an employee of at N95W16915 Richfield Way, spotted a man attempting to steal from the store.

The witness saw a white male in blue pullover hooded sweatshirt stuff numerous items in the front of his pants and shirt. When the storeowner approached the man, he dumped all the items and fled from the store.

All the items were recovered, and Neu’s will provide security footage of the incident to police.

  • At 3:47 p.m. Dec. 28, officers responded to a shoplifting call at , N83W15701 Appleton Ave. According the report, an employee stopped a 77-year-old woman who tried to conceal cigarettes and pills in her purse. The woman told police he forgot the items were in there, but has a prior theft charge from 2010 through the City of Brookfield. The woman was arrested and booked.
  • A 50-year-old woman called police at 5:17 p.m. Sunday after her son pushed her and she feared for her safety. The altercation began because her son refused to follow her directions. He became angry and started damaging property. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.
  • Between 8 a.m. Saturday and 12:58 p.m. Sunday, a person used water-based ink to write several profanities on a company-owned vehicle parked outside , N95W18000 Appleton Ave. The vehicle was a John Deere TC54H front loader. The owner removed the writing with a cleaning solution.
  • At 9:46 a.m. Saturday, left a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle in the parking lot for several days. Police contacted the owner of the vehicle, and she moved it by 1 p.m. that day.
  • At 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Wauwatosa police officers stopped a 27-year-old black male for a traffic violation. Officers discovered aluminum scrap metal in the back of his van, and the man told police he stole the metal from a business in Menomonee Falls. The man returned the metal to the businesses he stole from, and was arrested for prowling.
  • At 11:05 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a disabled vehicle call at the corner of Pilgrim Road and Deerfield Trail. Upon arriving, police observed the 34-year-old driver showing signs of intoxication. He had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 and was arrested for felony OWI. It was the man’s fourth offense within 5 years.
