Police Beat: Elderly Man Attempts Escape from Riverview Village

Incidents from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

An elderly male resident at has attempted to escape from the facility a number of times, and was found Sept. 1 trying to get a ride out.

At 4:43 p.m. Sept. 1, the 80-year-old man, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, was spotted at the bottom of the hill near River Crest Drive and Shady Lane. The man was in his wheelchair attempting to hitchhike a ride.

Police contacted the resident assistant at Riverview, and she stated that the man had gotten out of the facility a few times over the past few weeks. Police followed up with the assistant manager and facilities supervisor regarding the incident.

  • A 33-year-old Colgate man was arrested for his first offense OWI at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday at the corner of Appleton Avenue and County Line Road. The man was stopped for operating with a registration suspension due to failing emissions. The vehicle, a 2003 BMW convertible, was towed from the scene. He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.15.
  • Between 7:30 p.m. Sept 1 and 7 a.m. Sept. 6, unknown suspects stole heavy scrap metal truck boxes and vehicle parts from an unsecured area behind TP’s Paintworks, N60W16030 Kohler Ln. The estimated amount of property loss is $1,600.
  • At 10:40 a.m. Sept. 3, a man witnessed two black males steal a 4.5-inch by 17-foot long bar stock from his home in the W13000 block of Oak Lane. The suspects left in a white cargo van, and the homeowner followed the vehicle into Milwaukee but lost track of it. The bar stock weighs approximately 920 pounds and is valued at $3,000.
  • An 80-year-old man came to the police department to turn in 48 Remington .20 gauge shotgun shells that he recovered from his sister in law at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday. The ammunition was collected while cleaning her homeion the N7000 block of Amberleigh Circle.
  • At 12:28 p.m. Sept. 4, a 42-year-old woman reported that her license plate had been removed from her 2010 Toyota Sequoia.
  • A 47-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for a first offense OWI at 11:27 p.m. Sept. 1 at the intersection of Main Street and Hoyt Drive. The man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.15. A vehicle search revealed that his passenger, a 46-year-old woman, had two crack pipes in her purse. Additionally, the two had a child in the car.
  • Between 9:30 p.m. and 9:39 p.m. Sept. 3, a person locked himself inside the bathroom stall at , N87W17001 Garfield Dr., and then kicked his way out. A 21-year-old was a witness and told police what happened.
  • A 24-year-old woman was arrested at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 2 after she got into an argument with her live-in boyfriend. During the fight, she broke a fan, a light, put holes in the wall and cut open a couch with a knife. She was transported to jail without incident.
