Police Beat: Officers Nab Baby Formula Thief

Incidents from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

Police arrested a Milwaukee woman Wednesday who is accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of baby formula from .

An 18-year-old unemployed Milwaukee woman, on multiple occasions, stole cans of baby formula and then fled in a vehicle driven by an accomplice. Police made the arrest at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday after pulling the vehicle over.

The woman was caught on camera at 2:09 p.m. Aug. 18 stealing 11 cans of baby formula. She came back the same day just 20 minutes later and stole another 10 cans before 2:30 p.m. In all, she stole $442.89 worth of baby formula.

The woman placed the cans in her purse, while a male accomplice waited outside in a getaway vehicle. According to police, the woman was involved in a similar incident at a Target in West Milwaukee.

Less than a week later, the woman returned to Target in Menomonee Falls and grew a bit more bold.

On Wednesday, the woman was caught on camera stealing 35 cans of baby formula on two separate occasions during the day. This time, she totaled $735 worth of stolen goods. The woman and the driver were both later arrested after being pulled over.

She is facing three charges of misdemeanor retail theft from the Waukesha County Circuit Court.

  • An 18-year-old Sussex man was cited with possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated at 12:28 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Appleton Avenue and Main Street. The man was pulled over for suspended registration.
  • A bicycle was found in during the Boy Scouts River Cleanup. The bicycle was turned in to the police station at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday.
  • At 2 p.m. Tuesday, two high-school-aged subjects stole gasoline from , N71W13161 Appleton Ave. One suspect prepaid for $20 in gasoline, and his friend pumped over the $20 authorized. The two left in what appeared to be a red Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix.
  • Between 4 p.m. Aug.  12 and 6:24 a.m. Wednesday, a person cut the lock to gain entry into a . business trailer parked in the back of the car dealership on Main Street. The person stole 570 feet of copper wire valued at $850.
  • During a smoke break, two employees of watched two men enter the van of a visiting contractor and steal approximately $2,000 in tools. The incident occurred at 10:46 a.m. Aug. 22. The two men left in a dark blue or black Chevrolet Venture mini van.
  • A 29-year-old Menomonee Falls man was arrested for a first-offense OWI at 1:24 a.m. Aug. 23 at the corner of Lisbon Road and Dolphin Drive. Officers saw the man blow a stop sign and almost drive his vehicle into a ditch. The man had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17.
  • Although his license plate had been stolen for four years, a 27-year-old Menomonee Falls man received a parking ticket in the mail for a violation that occurred sometime in June. Apparently the man in possession of his plate received citation from the West Allis Police Department.
