Police Investigating Rash of Home Burglaries

At person attempted to forcibly enter a Menomonee Falls residence Wednesday, and the incident could be linked to a home burglary that occurred in Brookfield earlier this week.

Menomonee Falls police are attempting to locate a pair of men who are attempting to burglarize area homes after knocking on the door.

At roughly 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, an unknown person rang the doorbell and knocked on the front door repeatedly of a home on Stoneridge Drive in Menomonee Falls.  The resident chose not to answer the door, but shortly thereafter an unknown person knocked on the rear door repeatedly and loudly.  When the resident did not respond, the suspect attempted to forcibly enter the home.  The resident ran out the front door and alerted police.  The home and area were checked by police, however the suspect was not located.

Three similar residential burglaries occurred in Brookfield on Monday and Wednesday around 4 p.m. Another home was burglarized in the area of Lilly Road and Burleigh Street.

Prior to this burglary, a suspect went to a different home, and the resident answered the front door.  The suspect said he was looking for a person named “Sarah”.  When the resident advised there was no one living there by that name, the subject entered a vehicle described as a brown/tan SUV, similar to a Chevrolet Blazer, with a passenger inside.

The suspects were described as white males, in their 20’s with a scruffy appearance.  They drove away slowly down the street, in the direction of the home that was burglarized.

The Menomonee Falls Police Department suggests that residents answer the door if someone rings the doorbell or knocks.  If you do not recognize the person, do not open the door. Ask what their reason is for being at the home.

If you believe the person is suspicious, call the police immediately.  If possible, obtain a description of the person and vehicle to the best of your ability.
