• In Wisconsin, health care costs are overwhelming teacher salaries (wpr.org) — Teachers in the Merton Community School District are facing some of the steepest health insurance deductibles in Wisconsin, with single plans over $11,000 and family plans above $26,000 despite average salaries around $64,000. Statewide data show many educators spending a huge share of their pay on benefits, prompting calls to let districts buy into the state employee health plan.
   

• Man charged with Merton hit-and-run to waive hearing (gmtoday.com) — A Town of Merton resident is facing felony hit-and-run charges after a couple was struck while crossing Main Street in Merton earlier this month, leaving both seriously injured. Deputies say video and vehicle damage tied a nearby blue sedan to the crash, and the driver is expected to waive his preliminary hearing in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Friday.
