Wisconsinites should plan on a wet and stormy July 4th with locally heavy rain possible.

MILWAUKEE — Fourth of July firework enthusiasts may need to rethink their holiday plans. Showers and thunderstorms are set to blanket much of Wisconsin, including the Milwaukee metro area, on Thursday and Thursday night.

Independence Day: A slight chance of showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then showers likely between 1am and 4am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
