MILWAUKEE — The family of Anthony Huber, one of the men killed in a shooting at 2020 protests in Kenosha following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, has filed a federal lawsuit against Kenosha law enforcement officials.

John Huber, Anthony Huber's father, on Tuesday sued Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, former Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis and interim Kenosha Police Chief Eric Larsen in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Huber also sued unnamed Kenosha police officers.

The lawsuit asked for “fair and reasonable” damages, along with attorney fees and nontaxable expenses.

The lawsuit alleges that law enforcement personnel conspired to interfere with Anthony Huber's civil rights and that protesters and armed groups were treated differently during the protests in August 2020.

Anthony Huber, 26, was shot and killed amid days of protests sparked after a Kenosha police officer shot Jacob Blake, 29.

Kyle Rittenhouse, 18, was charged in the killing of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, on Aug. 25, 2020.

Rittenhouse will go on trial on Nov. 1 on charges of intentional homicide, reckless endangerment and possessing a firearm as a minor, among other charges, The Associated Press reported.
