560-Gallon Tanker Truck Carrying Anhydrous Ammonia Broke Loose
Parts of I-41/94 were shut down Thursday morning after sheriff's officials say a tanker broke loose from its trailer hitch.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — A tanker truck carrying anhydrous ammonia, an ingredient in fertilizer which is also a fire and chemical hazard, was involved in an accident Thursday morning in Racine County, prompting a partial freeway closure.
According to Racine County Sheriff's officials, a 560-gallon tanker trailer containing anhydrous ammonia was heading south on S. Sylvania Ave. south of Highway 11 when the trailer hitch broke.
Authorities said the tanker trailer rolled into a ditch and turned over to its side. Due to the design of the tanker, only a small amount of gasses leaked out, officials said.
