Journal Times Building Sold To Furniture Company

RACINE, WI — The Journal Times, a fixture in Downtown Racine, announced Thursday that a New Berlin-based furniture company has bought the building and will remodel the 80,000 square-foot building in a half-million-dollar remodel.
The sale marks the end of an era of sorts for the Journal Times, which has been a fixture at 212 Fourth Street for several decades.
According to a Journal Times report, Recon has officially closed on the property sale. According to online records, the property was listed for $899,000. The property was assessed at $1.4 million in 2019, according to Racine County property records. No timetable for the Journal Times relocation, or Recon's move-in have been announced.

Recon's business model is based on acquiring used office furniture and turning it around for businesses in need of furnishing enterprise-level office spaces.
