According to the DOJ, police shot King after officers tried to pull over a vehicle for a search warrant for a felon in possession of a firearm, and King fled on foot.

King was seen with a handgun before police shot him, and law enforcement found a gun after the police shooting, the state DOJ said.

The officer who shot King had four years of experience and was placed on administrative leave. The DOJ's Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the shooting, the agency said.

Body cameras captured the incident, the DOJ said.
