Racine County Reports First Coronavirus Death
As of 3 p.m. Friday, April 3, there are 46 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Racine County and 1,916 confirmed cases statewide.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — The Central Racine County Health Department announced today that a Racine County man in his 70s has died as a result of complications related to the new coronavirus.
“We are so saddened by this death and our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and community,” said Margaret Gesner, Health Officer for the Central Racine County Health Department in a statement. “Our health department continues to work tirelessly and employ all possible resources to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our community.”

As of 3 p.m. Friday, April 3, there are 46 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Racine County and
1,916 confirmed cases statewide. “The actual number of cases is much higher,” said Gesner.
“For every person who tests positive for the disease, there are likely many more people infected with mild symptoms who will not be tested due to current testing capacity. We urge all residents to comply with the ‘Safer at Home’ order and continue to practice good hygiene to avoid exposure to the COVID-19 virus.”
At least 37 people have died statewide because of the disease, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

“Today is a heartbreaking day for all of Racine County. We send our deepest condolences to his family members and friends, and our hearts are with all those who are battling this extremely dangerous disease,” Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave said Friday.
