Deputies Avoid Armed Conflict With Man; No Injuries In Arrest

According to authorities, the man was arrested without injury to he, the woman, deputies or the sheriff's K-9 officer Stax.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 38-year-old Racine County man is being held in the Racine County jail Monday after authorities say they avoided an armed confrontation with him on Sunday evening.

According to the Racine County sheriff's office, deputies were sent to a home on West View Drive in the Town of Norway at about 8 p.m. Sunday after a person dialed 911 and then hung up. When deputies arrived, they found the man outside his home with a 34-year-old woman.

Authorities said the man told deputies he had a shotgun and would force them to shoot him. According to sheriff's officials, deputies and crisis workers were able to negotiate with the man in order to safely arrest him. According to authorities, the man was arrested without injury to he, the woman, deputies or the sheriff's K-9 officer Stax.

Racine County sheriff's officials say they're holding the man on suspicion of disorderly conduct, bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a felon.
