Wisconsin Easter 2020: Updated List Of Stores Open, Closed

MILWAUKEE, WI — Easter Sunday will be the first day off for many store employees who have been deemed as essential workers during the new coronavirus outbreak.

The holiday will also be the first day that multiple major stores will be closed in Wisconsin since the coronavirus crisis began in the United States.

On the one hand, companies are closing stores to allow employees to properly observe the religious holiday. However, it also allows some of the nation’s largest retailers to give their workers a much-needed day at home.

Trader Joe’s announced the Easter Sunday closure of its stores nationwide on its website, “to give our incredible Crew Members a much-needed day of rest.”

Meijer, which has a number of stores in Wisconsin, is closing early on Easter Sunday to give its team members the opportunity to spend time with their families. The retailer’s hours on Easter Sunday will be as follows:

Meijer Stores: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meijer Pharmacies: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meijer Express fuel stations: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Pay-at-the-Pump fuel purchases will be available 24 hours). On Monday, April 13, Meijer Stores will resume hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Sears
• Target
• Trader Joe’s

However, many stores are choosing to remain open April 12. Here are the retailers that have said they will be open for business on Easter Sunday:

• Albertsons
• CVS
• Kmart
• Kroger
• Rite-Aid
• ShopRite
• Walmart
• Whole Foods

Additionally, although some stores will be open on Easter Sunday, people should not forget safe social distancing practices as they celebrate the religious holiday during the stay-at-home order in Wisconsin.

One alternative to attending church in person is to view livestreamed or recorded services for Easter Sunday. For example, Pope Francis’ Holy Week celebrations, including Mass on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, will be livestreamed.
