RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Racine County say alcohol may have been a factor in a rollover crash in which a 20-year-old woman's vehicle flipped at least once before landing in a ditch on the opposite side of the road.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, authorities were sent to the 18500 block of Highway C in the Village of Yorkville just before 4 a.m. on March 3 on a report of an accident in which the driver of an SUV rolled over after hitting a telephone pole.

Authorities said a passerby called 911, saying that the driver, later identified by the Racine County Sheriff's office as Melissa N. Oster, 20, was trapped inside. When deputies arrived, they found Oster standing inside her vehicle, claiming that she was not injured.

Deputies said Oster had to be extricated from her vehicle and was transported to Burlington Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said Oster was driving east, and crossed the center line when she drove into the ditch on the west side of the road.

Investigators said her vehicle struck a guide wire and flipped at least once and came to rest up against a utility pole.

Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Oster was arrested and issued citations operating while impaired-first offense, unsafe lane deviation, operating left-of-center and underage drinking, authorities said.
