2 Accused Of Pepper Spraying Potbelly Employees Arrested: Cops

Police say they've arrested the two women accused of pepper spraying Potbelly employees over an apparent issue with service.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Authorities in Mount Pleasant say the two women accused of pepper spraying the entire staff and menu offerings at the local Potbelly Sandwich Shop over an issue with service have been arrested and charged.

According to Mount Pleasant police, the two people accused in the Potbelly sandwich shop incident are Tamia Westbrook, 18, of Milwaukee and Laquanda Westbrook, 37, of Milwaukee.

According to online court records, Tamia Westbrook has been charged with disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, three counts of battery, and three three counts of using an oleoresin device to cause harm.

Laquanda Westbrook has been charged with disorderly conduct. She's also been charged with criminal damage to property, three counts of battery, and three three counts of using an oleoresin device to cause harm — all as party to a crime.

Court records show they're both being held in the Racine County Jail and are awaiting their initial appearances, which are scheduled for May 11.

According to the Mount Pleasant police department, officers were sent to the Potbelly Sandwich Shop at 11:15 a.m. on April 28 on a report of an upset customer.

Police said a restaurant manager called police after a woman pepper sprayed staff members, and left the restaurant.

According to police, a woman became unhappy with the service she received and became upset. A second woman came into the restaurant and began spraying pepper spray, effecting all of the employees and the food, police said.

Police said the woman sprayed one employee directly in the face before running off. The South Shore Fire Department treated the employees but they did not need to be transported to the hospital.
