County Surveys Moorland Road For Construction: New Berlin

An engineering firm will survey Moorland Road from National Avenue to Cleveland Avenue, the city said.

NEW BERLIN, WI — Waukesha County will study Moorland Road from National Avenue to Cleveland Avenue in New Berlin.

AECOM, an infrastructure consulting firm, will collect survey data in mid-August, the city said.

The survey data is for a reconstruction project on County Highway O, otherwise known as Moorland Road, the county website said. The project is separate from another construction project on the same road between West Beloit Road and West National Avenue, it said.

Construction will start in 2025, the city said. The county will repave 1.3 miles of Moorland Road and update it to current safety standards, the county said.

The survey data will address local and regional traffic volume, the county said. Improvements made after the survey would enhance traffic flow and safety, it said.

Here's what the county has planned for Moorland Road.

  • Pavement replacement of Moorland Road.
  • Bring the road up to current safety standards.

The county also noted the possibility of further improvements.

  • Reconfiguring intersections to improve safety and lane capacity.
  • Replacing traffic signals.
  • Minor grading.
  • Storm water improvements.
  • Determining whether or not the county can include sidewalks and bicycle accommodations on one or both sides of the roadway.

Residents will still be able to access businesses and houses adjacent to Moorland Road during construction, the county said.
