Drug Take Back Yields 625 Pounds Of Medications In New Berlin

New Berlin's latest drug take-back event brought in hundreds of pounds of medications, the New Berlin Police Department announced.

NEW BERLIN, WI — The drug take-back event which was held in New Berlin on Saturday brought in 624 pounds of medications, the New Berlin Police Department announced Monday on Facebook

The event brought police and volunteers from Froedtert together to run a drive-thru event where people were able to return unwanted or expired medications. Over 240 vehicles showed up for the event, representing 269 households, according to the department's post.

The four-hour-long event also allowed some pharmacists to reclaim some medication that was unopened and unexpired, the department said. Those medications will go to a drug repository.

The most drugs that the event has collected in its history spanning back to 2014 was a time in 2017 when over 1000 pounds were collected. The last drug takeback that the department held in October 2021 yielded about 500 pounds of medication, according to the Facebook post.
