Interstate 43 North Ramp To Layton Avenue To Close Monday

The I-43 north exit ramp onto Layton Avenue near 124th Street is set to close for a bridge deck replacement project, according to WisDOT.

NEW BERLIN, WI — The northbound Interstate 43 exit ramp to Layton Avenue near 124th Street is scheduled to close through the summer beginning Monday for construction, according to a project brief from WisDOT.

The closure comes as part of the I-43 Rock Freeway project to resurface the interstate between Moorland Road and the Hale Interchange by late 2022. Part of that project includes replacing the bridge deck of the I-43 north exit ramp to Layton Avenue over I-43 south, according to WisDOT.

The ramp will close to traffic on Monday, and a planned detour to get to Layton Avenue consists of taking the interstate to the 84th Street exit.

Beginning the week of April 18, the existing ramp will be demolished, according to WisDOT. During the demolition, I-43 south is scheduled to be closed overnights at 108th Street, including the Hale Interchange southbound-westbound system ramp. The demo work is set to happen overnights through the week of April 25.

More information on the project is available through 511 Wisconsin and WisDOT.
