New Berlin Requests Renaming Trail In Honor Of Former Mayor Tully

The request is to rename the Green Loop trail, the largest trail in Malone Park for Tully.

NEW BERLIN, WIβ€” The New Berlin Parks, Building & Grounds Commission will meet on Monday to discuss the Green Loop Trail in Malone Park to the Timothy K. Tully Trail in commemoration of former Mayor Timothy Tully.

The city wishes to commemorate the contributions of former New Berlin Mayor Timothy K Tully who passed away on December 5, 2020. Tim Tully served two terms as Mayor 1985 – 1993.

"We envision renaming the current Green Loop trail to the Timothy Tully Park Trail. This is the largest trail in Malone Park, our flagship park. Should the City approve moving forward on this, we would envision developing and posting appropriate commemorative signage and then also holding a ceremony in his honor," according to online city documents.

Tully was described as someone who enjoyed helping people. A GoFundMe was set up to continue his philanthropic efforts. As of Wednesday, the account has raised over $2,600.

"Tim's love for his family and friends was immeasurable. The entire family is truly heartbroken over his unexpected loss. Tim's family would like to use his loss, although tragic and sudden, as a means to celebrate his life and continue to allow him to touch the communities he has come to care for so much.

Tim enjoyed helping others as much as possible. An example of the many initiatives that were near and dear to him was volunteering at Resurrection Catholic Church in Destin, FL by giving his time and efforts caring for the gardens and landscape. Additionally, Tim was supportive of Trees on the Coast, a nonprofit organization that works along the Florida panhandle to improve coastal waterways and parks through tree plantings, beach cleanups, and education.

The Tully family will make a donation to these organizations and others in Tim's honor to continue his dream of ensuring that he has left the world better than he found it. For those that wish to donate in his honor, we welcome your contribution. We appreciate your love and support, and welcome the continued outpouring of sympathy from all that he touched."
