5 Tornadoes Confirmed To Have Touched Down In WI: NWS Survey

The National Weather Service confirms five tornadoes in Waukesha, Jefferson and Dodge counties.

The National Weather Service confirmed that four tornadoes — two in Jefferson County and two in Waukesha County — touched down in Wisconsin during severe storms early Thursday morning.

The latest tornado was confirmed east of Wales near Highway 18 and Brandybrook Road, the weather service said. The tornado had an EF0 damage rating and moved southeast where it lifted just past Road DT, the service added.

The other tornado was confirmed south of Dousman in Waukesha County, the weather service said. The tornado had an EF1 damage rating and started near a cemetery on Highway Z, the service added. The tornado path was 2.19 miles long with a width of 100 yards and peak winds at 100 miles per hour, the weather service said.

Another tornado in Waukesha County was in EF0, which has winds between 40-72 miles per hour and is capable of causing light damage like broken branches, the weather service explains.

The tornado left damage at the intersection of Highway D and Townline Road, southeast of Wales and southwest of Waukesha, the weather service said.

The tornado occurred around 1:30 a.m.

In Jefferson County, a tornado was confirmed southwest of Watertown. The tornado had an EF0 damage rating and left damage along Hilltop Road just north of Highway A, the weather service said. The tornado occurred at 1:05 a.m., the weather service added.

Another tornado was confirmed to have touched down near Concord in Jefferson County around 1:15 a.m., NWS said. That tornado had a speed of EF1, which has winds between 73-112 miles per hour, and can cause moderate damage.

The tornadoes were part of a severe weather pattern that hit the state early Thursday morning.
