What To Do With Fallen Leaves In New Berlin
Here's how New Berlin residents can handle fallen leaves and other autumn yard waste.
NEW BERLIN, WI — The City of New Berlin does not offer curbside leaf pickup, however, there are other ways to handle an influx of fallen leaves this autumn.
A city official told Patch mulching leaves in place is highly recommended in New Berlin.
The City's recycling center at 3711 S. Casper Drive near City Hall also accepts leaves and brush. Until November 30, the center plans on being open regularly throughout the week. Residents can dispose of yard waste there, but there are some need-to-knows that the City posted on its Facebook:

- Separate leaves and brush before arriving at the recycling center.
- Remove contaminants like plastic and trash from yard waste.
- Do not place leaves in a ditch or roadway. Placing leaves in the street can cause stormwater issues and flooding.
- Do not put yard waste in the trash.
- Consider take-back programs from nurseries or garden centers and consider managing yard waste through mulching or composting, the city said.
Until Nov. 30, the recycling center's hours are planned:
- Tuesday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
- Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
- Saturday 8 a.m.-4p.m.
