The Broadacre Apartments Breaks Ground In Oak Creek On Ryan Road

The development, located near the Oak Creek Police Department, will bring 118 new living units to Oak Creek, a news release said.

OAK CREEK, WI — Construction broke ground Tuesday on a new $40 million housing development called The Broadacre at 441 Ryan Road near the Oak Creek Police Department, according to a news release from developers.

The planned medium-density community will bring 118 apartments and townhomes to a 10.78-acre site across multiple buildings, said the news release from Revel Investments and Altius Building Company. The development will feature 56 one-bedroom units, 54 two-bedroom units, and eight three-bedroom units. Rents are expected to range from $1575-$2950 per month.

The exterior of the buildings will feature a single-family home aesthetic with pitched roofs and dormers to complement nearby municipal buildings. The interiors of the apartments will have a "modern farmhouse feel" with a blend of classic and contemporary elements to appeal to young professionals, families and older adults who are downsizing and selling their homes, the news release said.

"The goal is to keep families in Oak Creek longer while also encouraging new people to the area," said Jonathan K. Ward in the news release, the vice president of development integration at Altius Building Company.

Several city officials were scheduled to attend the groundbreaking on Tuesday. The Oak Creek Police Department said it "welcomes its new neighbors" in a statement posted on Facebook.

Ward said market research showed how desirable Oak Creek can be to live, and said he hoped The Broadacre sets itself apart with family-friendly amenities.

Developers say the new apartment complex will have a focus on nature. There will be an expansive outdoor area that features a dog park, a playground, interactive cascading water steps, community gardens, a patio, pickleball courts, a walking path, fire pits and a grilling area.

A freestanding clubhouse that features a community kitchen, fitness center, package room and the management office will be included in the development. Plans are also in the mix for heated underground parking, a rooftop solar system and electric car charging stations, developers said.

"The project’s name is a nod to the term ‘broadacre’ which means farming large areas of land," said Steve Pape in the news release, managing partner at Revel Investiments. "We wanted to highlight the natural surroundings which was all farmland at one time, yet find a way to meet the modern-day needs and wants of people who enjoy living in Oak Creek."

Construction at The Broadacre is expected to last for 17 months.
