Customer Brings Knife to Dispute at Denny's

Police say a customer upset with his gravy held a knife behind his back during a dispute at Denny's, 9650 S. 20th St., early Sunday morning.

According to an report:

A male customer came to the cook line just after 3 a.m. because he was upset with the way his gravy was made. An employee asked him to leave, and he responded by telling her to call police.

While they were speaking, the employee observed a knife in his right pocket. An officer spoke with a witness who saw the man holding a five- to six-inch knife behind his back.

Police stopped his vehicle near 39th Street and Ryan Road in Franklin. The man admitted to his involvement in the confrontation at Denny's and to pulling a knife out.

He told police that as he walked to the kitchen he pulled the knife out to protect himself. The man did not point or threaten anyone with the knife, which police found in the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Police cited him for disorderly conduct.
