Employee Catches Men In the Act of Burglary

Two people were arrested Friday morning after incident at A&E Cleaning and Grinding.

Two Milwaukee men were arrested on theft and trespassing charges after an attempted burglary of A&E Cleaning & Grinding Friday morning.

According to an report, a 52-year-old maintanence worker phoned police just after 8 a.m. about a burglary in progress.

The worker told police that people in a dark-colored minivan were removing items from the business, 1000 W. Pelton Drive, but they were locked inside the gate.

The two men searched to find a way out before striking the maintenance worker's vehicle, knocking down the worker and striking the gate as they left the A&E property, according to the report.

The 52-year-old declined medical attention. A second person, a 62-year-old man, was hit in the hand by the swinging gate but also declined medical attention.

The two men fled northbound on 13th Street but were stopped by police officers in the 1300 block of W. College Ave, the report said.

In addition to the trespassing and theft charges, the 30-year-old was also cited for reckless driving, improper registration of vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.

Police found several stolen items in the vehicle, including metal roller conveyors, brake drums and metal trailer stands, according to the report.
