Flooding Forced Closure of College Ave. Sunday

The eastbound lanes near the tunnel had about three feet of water, according to a police report. It's at least the second time high water has forced the closure of the newly-reconstructed College Avenue.

Heavy rains Sunday night caused flooding and forced the closure of College Avenue between Howell and Pennsylvania avenues.

According to an report, cars in the eastbound lanes were turning around inside the tunnel about 7:30 p.m. due to about three feet of water. The Milwaukee County Highway Department and Mitchell Airport crews were called to address the flooding.

It's high water has forced the closure of that stretch of College Avenue since it reopened following a reconstruction and expansion project.
