Police in Oak Creek say they caught up with a shoplifter who tried stealing dozens of beef jerky bags. Here's how he tried doing it:

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a 19-year-old man was arrested after he tried stealing 53 bags of beef jerky from the liquor department in the Oak Creek Pick 'n Save.

According to Oak Creek Police call logs, a Pick 'n Save store manager called police at just after 9 a.m. on Nov. 17 on a report of a shoplifter.

Police call logs stated that a customer was walking through the liquor department when they saw someone hidden between two stacks of pallets putting a cart full of beef jerky into his backpack. The customer alerted a store manager.

According to police accounts, the manager confronted the beef jerky theft suspect, who laughed and walked out of the store.

Police said they caught up with the suspect, who was seen walking along the median between S. 27th Street and E. Mangold Ave. a short time later.

Police said police ordered the man to stop, and to take his hands out of his pockets. According to reports, the man ignored police, and tried pulling away as the officer grabbed him.

According to police call logs, the man was arrested. A total of 53 bags of beef jerky worth $305 were found by police in the man's backpack.

The man was cited for retail theft following his arrest.
