Oak Creek House Was Overrun With Cats: Report

When police talked with the homeowner, he reportedly told police that things had gotten out of hand while he was gone.

OAK CREEK, WI — Authorities in Oak Creek say a concerned citizen tipped off police about a house that was overrun with cats.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers responded to a home on the 7800 block of S. Burdick Ave. at just before 5 p.m. on Sept. 20 on a report of a house that contained too many cats.

Police said a concerned citizen called police, saying they were worried that several cats were inside the house and that the house appeared to be empty for quite some time.

When police investigated, the officer noted at least 20 cats inside the house simply by looking in the rear patio door of the home.

When officers reached out to the home's owner, the owner reportedly told police that he was not currently living at the house, but that he cared for the cats regularly. According to police call logs, the home owner admitted to letting things get out of control, and that he can no longer care for the cats.
