Oak Creek Woman Pointed Gun At Husband, Police Made Rescue: Cops

OAK CREEK, WI — A 47-year-old Oak Creek woman has been arrested and charged after police say she pointed a gun at her husband, and later contemplated self-harm. One of their children called 911, and police surrounded the house for several hours before she was safely rescued from inside.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman went to watch football at a bar during the evening of Oct. 12 with her husband. He told police that his wife drank three cocktails, and started to become upset.

Police said the two went back home. The husband told police he saw his wife holding a black .45-caliber handgun. According to police, she told her husband to take the gun from her and put it in his gun safe.

According to the criminal complaint, about 15 minutes later, she came out of the bedroom with the same gun, and pointed it at her husband. He ducked behind the corner, and one of their two children called 911.

According to police, the husband ran out of the house to talk with officers who were just arriving. He said his wife was still in the house with their two children. Police said the two children eventually made it out of the house and were not injured.

According to the criminal complaint, numerous police officers responded to the home, setting up a perimeter around the property. The husband told police that his wife was a military veteran and had contemplated self-harm.

According to Oak Creek Police call logs, the woman shut off all lights to the house and went into her bedroom. After unsuccessful attempts by police to reach her via cell phone as well as other methods, including the deployment of Greenfield police drones, the Emergency Response Unit was able to find her.

After several hours, and after breaching the house with a robot, officers located the woman asleep in the house. Police went in, and recovered firearms, including the .45 caliber handgun. She was then transported to Ascension Hospital, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, she admitted to being drunk, handling the gun, and contemplating self-harm.

She has been charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon - pointing a gun and under the influence of an intoxicant, disorderly conduct - use of a dangerous weapon, and obstructing an officer.
