Suspected Shoplifter Fights With Employees, Gets Arrested

Police say a 40-year-old Cudahy woman dug her fingernails into an employee who was trying to prevent her from fleeing.

A 40-year-old Cudahy woman fought with Piggly Wiggly employees -- digging her fingernails into the wrist of one of them -- before she was arrested for retail theft and battery Sunday afternoon.

According to an Oak Creek police report, the woman put a bottle of vodka down her shorts and walked out the main entrance of the , 2201 E. Rawson Ave., about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Three employees tried to prevent her from fleeing and a struggle ensued. She dug her fingernails into the left wrist of one of the employees for about a minute, causing the employee to bleed.

Oak Creek officers arrested her and took her to the , where she was cited for retail theft and battery.
