Buckling Pavement Closes Part of I-43 Near Saukville

The left lane of northbound I-43 closed on Monday as crews worked to repair the buckling pavement likely caused by the hot temperatures.

One lane on Interstate 43 near Saukville closed on Monday after a section of pavement buckled.

Crews responded at about 11:45 a.m. Monday to repair the buckling pavement, Department of Transportation Communications Specialist Mike Pyritz said; the repair was slated to take about two hours.

The affected area was on I-43 just north of State Highway 33; the left, northbound lane was the only one closed, Pyritz said.

The temperature sat at 95 degrees just after noon on Monday in Saukville, according to the National Weather Service, with a forecasted high of 99.

Last week, Highway 57 southbound lanes were closed near Fredonia while crews repaired buckling pavement, according to WISN.com.
