Ozaukee Community Awareness Forum Focuses on Beekeeping

The Ozaukee Community Awareness Forum (OCAF) and PortFish, Ltd. will sponsor the 5th Annual Sustainability Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.Β Saturday, May 19, at the at 131 N. Webster St. in Port Washington. Β 

The theme of this year’s fair will be "To Bee or notΒ to Bee" β€”focusing on the plight of the honey bee population, beekeeping and local honey producers, asΒ well as a broader focus on local food production and water and energy conservation.

Local author, Deb Baker (aka Hannah Reed) will open the Fair with a reading from her latestΒ novel in the Queen Bee Mystery Series, Plan Bee, at 10 a.m.

Β This year’s keynote speaker will be CharlieΒ Koenen, maker of Beepod Hives, who will give a half hour "Beesentation" at 10:30 a.m. Β BeyondΒ speakers, the fair will feature a variety of informational exhibitors, including local CSA’s, CommunityΒ Gardens, locally produced honey, live music, a silent auction, a children’s table, a snack shop and more!The Sustainability Fair is free and open to the public! Β
