UPDATE: Steel Plate Offers Temporary Fix for Sinkhole

Traffic can now safely pass along both lanes of Highway 33 where a sinkhole was reported early Wednesday morning.

A sinkhole in a section of Highway 33 (East Dekora Street) near South Park Street in Saukville is now safe for traffic after workers installed a steel plate to cover the area.

Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office recieved a phone call about the roughly 4-foot by 4-foot sinkhole in the road early Wednesday morning, according to Ozaukee Dispatchers.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation safety engineers and Ozaukee County crew members worked to install the steel plate, a short-term solution for the sinkhole, according to a press release from the DOT. A longer-term solution will be identified in the near future.
