I want to complement the Port Washington-Saukville School district.  I am a grandparent.  My three grandchildren are enrolled in the school system.  I’ve attended all their school events, I help out sometimes with their homework, and I’ve even helped with some of their school activities.

I’ve met many of their teachers, some of their administrators and read as much as I can about the district. So, I think I have a good sense of what their school district is all about.

The school board, the administrators, the teaching staff, and all the citizens of the district are to be commended for the wonderful school system you support and work for, so that all children, and my grandchildren, have excellent educational opportunities.

I want to especially thank the staff for the sacrifices they have made to help deal with the financial challenges facing all school districts.  I often hear politicians brag about balancing the state budget without raising taxes or fees.  I’ve written to them to ask them to be more truthful.  They should say “we balanced the budget without raising taxes or fees and we want to thank public employees,
and especially our schools, for making most of the sacrifices to help balance most of that budget.”  Many of those sacrifices were unfairly and unreasonably imposed by the state!

I take note that the school district has upcoming School Board elections. I would urge all citizens to .  I would urge you to elect folks that will continue the high quality educational opportunities I see in your fine school system including the ability to maintain and attract outstanding staff.
